Job summary

Maine Department of Transportation is seeking a Technician to support Regional Program development and field/office construction activities. The role may involve acting as Chief Inspector or Resident on active projects, inspecting work, and verifying contractor performance against specifications.

Responsibilities include monitoring safety plans, performing materials sampling/testing, and detailing quantities for pavement preservation initiatives within the Regional Program.

Qualifications

• Education, training, and/or experience in engineering, a technical field, or related area demonstrating competency in reviewing technical plans, drafting diagrams and reports, collecting data, and analyzing datasets for trends.

Responsibilities

• Act as an inspector by inspecting, verifying, measuring, and documenting the work performed by private Contractors.
• May work as Chief Inspector or Resident on active construction projects.
• Monitor and enforce the contractor’s Traffic Control Plan, Soil Erosion Water Pollution Control Plan, and Quality Control Plans.
• Perform sampling and testing of construction materials to ensure quality.
• Detail, design, and estimate quantities for pavement preservation or rehabilitation projects.
