The Georgia Department of Public Health, Health Protection, Emergency Preparedness & Response is seeking an Regional Training Coordinator-Region 9 for the Office of EMS/Trauma.

Job Responsibilities

Under limited to broad supervision, the Regional Training Coordinator provides direct oversight of specific goals and objectives for the implementation and evaluation of initial and continuing emergency medical services education programs in a designated region and performs essential functions in the designations of EMS education programs.

Functions Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Ensures regulatory compliance in the overall operations, monitoring and evaluation of EMS education programs, Instructors and students for adherence to DPH rules and regulations, EMS Procedures and guidelines.
  • Performs inspections and designations of all EMS education programs in the Region.
  • Performs investigations related to EMS education programs and Instructors in the Region.
  • Collaborates with healthcare entities within the Region, including the healthcare coalition(s), hospitals and other partners.
  • Research existing programs both in-state and out-of-state for best practices specific to provider education.
  • Recruit community subject matter experts to assist in the delivery of the regional/community EMS Mobile Integrated Healthcare education programs.
  • Assist with community needs assessments and development of regional/community EMS Mobile Integrated Healthcare education programs that are tailored to community needs as requested.
  • Create continuing education to be placed on the Department’s learning management system.
  • Serves as the Department’s representative on the RTAC, EMS-C, Regional Council Education Committee and other state committees as needed.
  • Serves as a liaison between the Department and the EMS Regional Council as needed.
  • Assists in the state’s emergency preparedness and response to natural and manmade disasters and public health emergencies.

This position is in Region 9, counties served: Appling, Atkinson, Bacon, Bryan, Bulloch, Brantley, Camden, Candler, Charlton, Clinch, Coffee, Chatham, Effingham, Evans, Glynn, Jeff Davis, Liberty, Long, McIntosh, Pierce, Tattnall, Toombs, Ware, and Wayne.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED AND three years’ experience in providing education, training or instructional services, one year of which is in a lead/supervisory capacity. Valid Driver’s License

OR

Vocational/Technical degree in a directly related area from and accredited college and two years experience providing educational, training or instructional services. Valid Driver’s License

OR

Five years of experience at the lower level (GSM011) or position equivalent. Valid Driver’s License

The successful applicant will possess competencies in the areas of oral communication, written communication, interpersonal skills, teamwork, leadership, and planning/evaluation.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the above requirements, possess the following:

  • Currently licensed as a Georgia Paramedic and as a Georgia EMS Instructor/Coordinator;
  • Experience as a Lead Instructor, Course Coordinator or Program Director of an initial EMS education program;
  • Knowledge with the Department of Public Health Rules and Regulations for Emergency Medical Services 511-9-2 and National EMS Education Standards;
  • Knowledge of Community Paramedicine/Mobile Integrated Healthcare;
  • 5 years documented experience at an upper management level with a licensed Emergency Medical Service agency or designated education program;
  • Experience in standard computer programs at a moderate to advanced level of proficiency;
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
