Job summary

SA Recycling LLC is seeking a diesel mechanic with versatility to service scrap yard equipment. You will drive a company mechanic truck to different yards, troubleshoot machinery, and perform repairs on engines, cooling systems, drivetrains, brakes, and electrical components.

Responsibilities include hydraulic system work, torch cutting and welding, site cleanup, material organization, and strict safety/housekeeping adherence. Bi-lingual abilities are a plus; prior forklift experience is helpful.

Qualifications

• Must pass a medical physical and drug test.
• Background check required.
• Grandfathered employees: those employed before April 2014 remain qualified.
• Preferred: high school diploma or GED and/or foreign education acceptable.
• Bi-lingual English & Spanish a plus.
• Ability to communicate with others effectively; understand directions and use basic math.
• Diesel mechanic school or certification preferred.
• Previous experience hydraulic repairs a plus.
• Forklift experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Drive the company mechanic truck to various yards in a given region.
• Troubleshoot problems with machinery.
• Repair engines, cooling systems, drivetrain parts, brakes, and basic electrical parts.
• Remove and replace parts of hydraulic systems and attachments (shears, forks, grapples).
• Remove and repair body parts, ladders, platforms, catwalks, and engine covers.
• Perform limited torch cutting and welding.
• Clean up work area at end of shift.
• Keep work areas neat and orderly.
• Attend punctually and consistently.
• Organize materials for space efficiency.
• Dispose of various waste materials properly.
• Inspect to ensure cleanup is completed.
• Maintain safe and hygienic workplace conditions.
