Job summary

SA Recycling in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to diagnose and repair heavy equipment used in scrap yard operations. You will service diesel engines, hydraulic systems, brakes, and electrical components to keep machines running safely.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, welding, and limited torch work, plus driving the company mechanic truck to yards in the region. A strong focus on safety and organized, efficient work is required.

Qualifications

• Preemployment physical and drug screen required.
• Background check required.
• Bi-lingual English & Spanish a plus.
• Diesel Mechanic school DOT maintenance or certification preferred.
• Previous hydraulic repairs experience.
• Must have diesel engine experience.
• Basic math skills and ability to understand direction.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot problems with machinery.
• Repair engines, cooling systems, drivetrain parts, brakes, and basic electrical parts.
• Remove and replace hydraulic system parts and attachments (shears, forks, grapples).
• Remove and repair body parts, ladders, platforms, catwalks, and engine covers.
• Perform limited torch cutting and welding.
• Drive company mechanic truck to yards in the region.
• Clean up work area at end of shift.
• Inspect the safety of the equipment.
• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential.
• Organize materials for efficient space usage.
• Dispose of waste materials properly.
• Inspect to ensure cleanup is completed.
• Maintain good housekeeping for safety and hygiene.
