Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer to provide technical leadership within our Power and Energy practice. You will lead protection & control design, relay settings, and SCADA integration for high-voltage substations, while mentoring a team of engineers and coordinating with clients.

The role requires a PE license, a BS in Electrical Engineering, and at least 15 years of related experience, with travel as needed to multiple U.S. locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
• PE license required (or eligible).
• 15+ years of related protective relaying and substation experience.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, delivery, and technical execution of high-voltage substation protection and control projects.
• Serve as a technical authority for protective relaying, control systems, SCADA integration, automation, and substation communications.
• Develop and review protection/controls deliverables such as schematics, wiring diagrams, relay settings, and layouts.
• Lead power system studies, protection coordination, equipment selection, and related analyses.
• Ensure compliance with client requirements, utility standards, and CDM Smith quality procedures.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support project delivery, commissioning, testing, and startup.
