Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a security professional to coordinate investigations of theft, vandalism, threats, and related security matters in the designated region. You will ensure security measures and equipment are properly installed and that security practices are communicated to employees, contractors, and outside law enforcement.

The role requires strong knowledge of investigative techniques, risk assessments, and guard force management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or associate degree with 3 years of security or related experience.
• High School diploma with 10 years of security or related experience.
• Three years minimum experience in sworn law enforcement, military, corporate security, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Recommend security personnel levels and equipment to secure facilities.
• Coordinate with federal, state and local law enforcement on vulnerability assessments and security needs.
• Develop and coordinate physical security measures for personnel and facilities.
• Direct investigations with company personnel, contractors and local law enforcement.
• Maintain relationships with internal employees, contractors and law enforcement.
• Develop, communicate and train on security policies and procedures.
• Stay informed on security issues and adjust practices as conditions change.
