Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a Security professional to coordinate investigations of theft, vandalism, threats and related security matters across a large geographic area. You will ensure security measures and equipment are installed and that security practices are communicated to employees, contractors and local authorities.

Role requires coordination with federal, state, and local agencies; development of physical security programs; and training delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or associate degree with 3+ years experience or HS with 10+ years.
• Minimum 3 years in sworn law enforcement, military, or corporate security.
• Live in AEP service territory.

Responsibilities

• Recommend security levels and equipment for facilities.
• Liaise with law enforcement on vulnerability assessments and security needs.
• Coordinate physical security across personnel and facilities.
• Direct investigations with company personnel and law enforcement.
• Foster relationships with employees, contractors, and police.
• Develop, communicate and train on security policies.
• Monitor changing security conditions and adapt as needed.
