Job summary

Staffmark is seeking a Regional Sales Manager to drive profitable growth across a U.S. territory. You will pursue new business, manage strategic accounts, engage distributors, and support EPCs and OEMs with technical solutions.

You will translate customer needs into value propositions, develop territory plans, and coach distributors while collaborating with Engineering and Operations. A strong track record in industrial sales and broad travel is expected.

Qualifications

  • Five years of direct or distributor sales experience in industrial technical products or related field.
  • Proven success growing a territory and handling complex or project-based sales.
  • Experience with distributors, channel partners, OEMs, EPC firms, or end users.
  • Strong consultative selling, negotiation, presentation, and relationship skills.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Understanding of proposals, both technical and commercial.
  • Excellent organization, time management, and independent decision-making.
  • Willingness to travel roughly 50% to 75%, including air and long-distance travel.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute territory sales plans aligned with revenue and profitability.
  • Hit or exceed sales goals and support gross-margin targets.
  • Identify and close new business in targeted industrial markets.
  • Prepare revenue forecasts, territory plans, and activity reports.
  • Engage EPCs, OEMs, end users, and distributors to expand sales and margins.
  • Build long-term relationships via field visits, reviews, and technical discussions.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Customer Service, Operations for customer solutions.
  • Recruit, train, and develop distributor partners in the territory.
  • Provide product and application training to distributors and end users.
  • Prepare quotations for standard and custom requirements per pricing policies.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and opportunities for leadership review.
  • Maintain CRM records, forecasts, and sales activities.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and training events.

Job description

The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for profitable sales growth within an assigned U.S. territory through new business development, strategic account management, distributor engagement, and technically sound customer support. The position serves as a trusted advisor to distributors, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), engineering, procurement and construction firms (EPCs), and industrial end users while identifying opportunities that create value for customers and company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute an assigned-territory sales plan aligned with Company revenue, growth, margin, and profitability objectives.
  • Achieve or exceed assigned sales goals and support gross-margin expectations.
  • Identify, qualify, develop, and close new business opportunities within targeted industrial markets.
  • Prepare projected revenue, account forecasts, territory plans, and regular activity reports.
  • Obtain product specifications and approvals with EPC firms, key accounts, OEMs, end users, and distributor partners to expand sales opportunities and improve margins.
  • Build long-term relationships through field visits, business reviews, product demonstrations, training, and technical discussions.
  • Learn customer applications and recommend appropriate company's solutions in collaboration with Engineering, Customer Service, Operations, and other internal resources.
  • Recruit, train, support, motivate, and develop distributor partners within the assigned territory.
  • Provide product and application training to distributors and end users and support competitive conversion opportunities.
  • Prepare or coordinate quotations for standard, non-stock, and custom requirements in accordance with Company pricing and approval processes.
  • Identify customer concerns, competitive threats, market trends, and emerging opportunities and communicate relevant findings to leadership.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of competitive products and marketplace activity and provide reports as requested.
  • Participate in developing and implementing appropriate sales and customer-response strategies.
  • Represent company at trade shows, conferences, seminars, customer training events, and other industry activities.
  • Maintain timely and accurate CRM records, account notes, opportunity stages, forecasts, follow-up commitments, and sales-activity documentation.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through product training, industry education, publications, networking, and field experience.
  • Demonstrate integrity, sound judgment, safety awareness, and compliance with company's policies, procedures, quality requirements, and applicable laws.
  • Perform other sales-related duties and support team members as assigned, consistent with the position’s general nature and level.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of five years of direct and/or distributor sales experience involving industrial technical products or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated success developing new business, expanding a territory, and managing complex or project-based sales opportunities.
  • Experience working with distributors, channel partners, OEMs, EPC firms, or industrial end users.
  • Demonstrated consultative selling, prospecting, negotiation, presentation, relationship-management, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to understand technical applications and communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Knowledge of business processes and proposal development, including technical and commercial proposals.
  • Strong organization, time management, follow-through, judgment, and independent decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50% to 75%, including air travel, automobile travel, overnight travel, and long-distance travel.
  • Ability to travel by automobile as an essential function of the position. Where driving is required, the employee must maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfy applicable Company driving and insurance requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience selling pumps, fluid-handling equipment, pressure vessels, valves, process equipment, instrumentation, controls, filtration, or related industrial products.
  • Experience serving chemical processing, water and wastewater, mining, energy, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, or general industrial manufacturing markets.
  • Experience working with municipal, military, or other government-sector customers.
  • Experience managing and growing a distributor network.
  • Working knowledge of industrial manufacturing, engineering drawings, specifications, and ISO-based quality systems.
Education

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related discipline preferred. Equivalent relevant technical-sales experience and demonstrated industrial-application expertise may be considered in place of a degree.
