Job summary

CJ Schwan’s in San Jose, CA is seeking an Area Sales & Distribution Manager to lead a high-performing field sales and distribution team across the region. You will recruit, coach and develop staff, ensure DOT compliance, optimize routes and truck utilization, and drive sales opportunities through in-store promotions and strong customer service.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in sales, sales operations, or route delivery/distribution.
• Bachelor’s degree and sales/DSD experience in the food industry.
• CDL B is highly preferred (we can budget for you to earn within 60 days).
• Understanding of financial/business requirements.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience presenting information in group settings to diverse audiences.
• Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage staff to achieve sales and distribution goals and ensure DOT compliance and safety practices.
• Maximize sales opportunities through in-store promotions and customer service.
• Ensure efficient use of delivery trucks and routes.
• Oversee distribution planning, truck maintenance, DOT compliance, routing, and pre/post-trip execution.
• Recruit, hire, train and develop team members.
• Prepare and present financial and KPI reports to management.
• Monitor performance, communicate results, and identify improvement opportunities.
• Analyze sales and distribution data to guide business decisions.
• Maintain strong customer relationships across sales, merchandising and operations.
