Job summary

Rumpke Waste and Recycling in Dayton, Ohio, is seeking a Region Trainer to build a culture of safety across multiple sites. You will equip new hires with knowledge to work safely from day one, ensure CMV drivers operate in compliance, and align teams with OSHA, DOT, and FMCSA regulations.

The role requires strong training skills, DOT/OSHA expertise, and the ability to document, coach, and measure competencies.

Qualifications

• Must be able to train others in a clear, understandable, and professional manner.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and OSHA/industrial safety compliance as they relate to the waste hauling industry.
• Knowledge of the mechanical functions of commercial vehicles and equipment.
• Computer proficiency with working knowledge of Windows applications.
• Knowledge of the waste industry and hauling operations.
• Ability to operate a CMV in accordance with DOT regulations/compliance.
• Must read and speak English well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, signs, signals, and training.

Responsibilities

• Lead new hire safety orientation sessions.
• Deliver CMV driver training including pre-trip inspections, defensive driving, load securement, and safe operating practices.
• Conduct OSHA, DOT, and FMCSA compliance training for all operational roles.
• Partner with safety experts to develop HE and Certified PIT training programs.
• Maintain training documentation and certifications for audits.
• Develop and maintain a process to measure training competencies.
• Facilitate toolbox talks and safety huddles.
• Perform field observations and ride-alongs to coach employees.
• Identify training needs with operations and develop targeted programs.
• Support incident investigations with training insights and corrective actions.
• Assist with site safety inspections/audits for compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
