Job summary

Rumpke Waste and Recycling is seeking a Region Trainer to drive a safety-first culture across multiple sites. You will train new hires for safe day-one performance, ensure CMV drivers meet regulatory standards, and align teams with OSHA, DOT, and FMCSA requirements.

You will build and maintain training programs, document certifications, and lead toolbox talks and field coaching to reduce incidents and improve operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Ability to train others clearly and professionally.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with internal/external customers.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and OSHA/industrial safety compliance in waste hauling.
• Knowledge of commercial vehicle/mechanical functions.
• Computer proficiency with Windows applications.
• Understanding of the waste industry and hauling operations.
• Ability to read/speak English well.

Responsibilities

• Lead new hire safety orientation sessions for a safety-first mindset.
• Deliver CMV driver training: pre-trip inspections, defensive driving, load securement, safe operating practices.
• Conduct OSHA, DOT, FMCSA compliance training for all roles.
• Develop and manage qualified HE and Certified PIT training programs with SMEs.
• Maintain training documentation and certifications for audits.
• Measure training competencies and document with knowledge checks.
• Facilitate daily toolbox talks and safety huddles.
• Coach employees through field observations and ride-alongs.
• Identify training needs with operations leaders and address trends.
• Support incident investigations with training insights and corrective actions.
• Assist with site health & safety inspections/audits.
