Job summary

United Utility Services, LLC is seeking a Regional Safety Director to oversee safety and health initiatives across a defined region. You will partner with operations leadership, mentor field teams, enforce regulatory compliance, and drive continuous safety improvement in a fast-paced construction environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of Electrical Transmission, Distribution, and Substation construction experience.
  • Minimum 3 years in a full-time safety leadership role (Supervisor, Manager, or Director level).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with a represented workforce.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards, utility safety practices, and human performance principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety documentation systems.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout assigned region.

The salary range for this position 150,000.00-160,000.00 . Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.

About The Role

The Regional Safety Director is responsible for overseeing and leading all safety and health initiatives within an assigned region. This role serves as a strategic partner to operations leadership and a field-facing leader for the safety team, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and customer expectations. The Regional Safety Director plays a key role in developing, mentoring, and holding accountable the region's safety representatives, while driving safety performance, cultural maturity, and continuous improvement. Thisposition operates in a fast-paced construction environment and requires the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Program Leadership: Lead regional implementation of corporate safety strategies and programs; maintain alignment with company-wide safety initiatives, including observation programs, corrective action processes, and monthly focus topics; and ensure all regional safety efforts are consistent with United Utility policies and operational standards.
  • Team Supervision & Development: Supervise safety representatives assigned to the region; set clear expectations, coach performance, and manage schedules; conduct regular one-on-ones and field engagements to develop safety team members; and participate in hiring, onboarding, and professional development of safety personnel.
  • Field Engagement & Oversight: Conduct and oversee high-quality field safety observations, audits, and coaching efforts; lead and support stand-downs, field visits, customer audits, and project mobilizations; and ensure Qualified Observer, I&I, ECHO Protocol, and other critical task policies are being properly applied.
  • Incident Management & Analysis: Serve as lead point of contact for significant incidents, including recordable injuries, outages, and near misses; lead or delegate incident analyses (IA) and ensure corrective actions are identified, implemented, and tracked; and ensure timely communication of incident learnings and safety alerts to field teams and leadership.Regulatory & Customer Compliance: Ensure regional operations comply with OSHA, DOT, and all applicable federal, state, and customer-specific safety requirements; serve as the safety lead for customer audits, site inspections, and prequalification submittals; and maintain awareness of regulatory changes and coordinate necessary updates to regional practices.
  • Customer Interaction & Representation: Represent the company’s safety performance and initiatives to external customers and clients; prepare and deliver professional safety reports, presentations, and performance updates as requested by customers or required by contract; respond to customer inquiries regarding safety incidents, corrective actions, safety programs, or documentation; and support proposal and bid efforts with safety input, documentation, and credentialing as needed.
  • Metrics, Reporting & Accountability: Monitor and report regional safety performance including TRIR, MVA rate, observation volume and quality, and corrective action closure; use data to identify trends and deploy proactive safety interventions; and enforce progressive accountability standards in coordination with operational leadership, HR, and, where applicable, union representatives, ensuring disciplinary actions align with collective bargaining agreement provisions.
