Job summary

Sunstate is seeking a Regional People Operations Business Partner - West to support multiple branches with a strong field presence. You will work with regional and field leaders to align workforce decisions with safety, customer experience, productivity, and growth.

You will guide organization design, succession, retention, and employee relations while influencing pay, performance, and change across CA and other states. This is a substantive leadership role with broad impact.

Qualifications

• 8 to 10 years of progressive HR Business Partner experience.
• Experience supporting multi-site field-based teams in equipment rental or a similar operating environment.
• Record of diagnosing ambiguous problems and turning insight into measurable action.
• Strength in leadership coaching, talent judgment, succession, workforce planning, organizational effectiveness.
• Experience independently conducting complex investigations and advising leaders on sensitive employment decisions.

Responsibilities

• Partner with operational leaders to diagnose blockers and turn insight into clear action.
• Lead talent reviews, identify key talent, build practical development plans, and improve readiness for critical roles.
• Improve workforce stability by identifying root causes across hiring, onboarding, leadership, staffing, compensation, development, and operating conditions.
• Coach leaders through difficult issues and independently lead investigations with Legal on outcomes.
• Lead the people side of change, guiding restructures and new ways of working to drive adoption.
• Turn workforce data into decisions by explaining turnover, vacancies, and other measures and actions.
• Protect employees and the company by navigating CA and multi-state employment requirements, leave, accommodations, and separations.
