Position Summary:
The Regional Operations Manager’s role is to develop and execute the operation plan supporting the broader company strategy. They will accomplish this by establishing and managing Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), development and performance management of direct reports to ensure business continuity (succession planning, individual site’s performance, etc.), and ensuring that all operations adhere to safety, quality, and compliance standards.
The Regional Operations Manager’s role is to ensure quality work is performed safely, and is cost-effective for the sites within their Region, by providing coaching, leadership, support, and operating expertise necessary to ensure the Mini-Shop facilities have the proper processes, controls, equipment and personnel in place to become the employer of choice, supplier of choice, and investment of choice for the Mini-Shop business.
Essential Functions:
- Lead team of Field Operations Supervisors and foster a culture centered on Safety and Quality.
- Responsible for coaching and mentoring Field Operations Supervisors to promote and sustain a safe, successful & productive work environment for all employees across their sites.
- Accountable for supporting site supervisors in the implementation, coaching, mentoring and the sustainability of safety performance through facilitation of job analysis, shop management and employee involvement and accountability.
- Collaborate with Field Operations Supervisors to ensure regional financial performance meets budget expectations by effectively utilizing key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Mentor and coach Field Operations Supervisors to ensure throughput aligns with customer demand.
- Recognize talent and develop succession plan(s) for all employees with actions and associated timelines for supporting employee retention and promoting internal growth.
- Accountable for supporting each Field Operations Supervisors within their region in the implementation, coaching, mentoring and sustainability of visual management processes, along with continuous improvement initiatives.
- Accountable for leading, coaching, and mentoring Field Operations Supervisors in recognizing employee training needs, equipment needs, and operational efficiency opportunities while working with corporate support groups in developing action plans, and support as needed.
- Provide support to the Field Operation Supervisors in the implementation, coaching, mentoring and the sustainability of new hire on-boarding process, including 30, 60, 90 reviews and Tank-University (a comprehensive training program), within their region.
- Drive the goals and expectations of the annual and 3-year strategic plans for their region that aligns with the overall vision and strategy of the Mini-Shop business and ultimately the Marmon Rail Yard Services strategic plan.
- Complete routine site visits across their region to provide consistent customer support, project support, and personnel support.
- Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual business updates for customers, and internal reporting as required.
- Ensure proper staffing is maintained across the region to meet the needs of both the customer expectations and business performance expectations.
- Create and encourage a successful & productive atmosphere in the workplace for all employees.
- Travel required to visit job sites in the following locations: (Fryburg, ND. El Paso, TX. Sinclair, WY. Anacortes, WA. Tulsa, OK. Artesia, NM. Green River, WY. Verdigris, OK.)

Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Regional Operations Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include safety, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

- Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role, preferably in a field operations or car repair environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.

- Proficiency in safety and quality management practices.
- Ability to manage performance goals and meet productivity targets.

- This position is a fully remote office with travel requirements, the incumbent must reside in the state of Washington, Oregon, California or Wyoming.
