Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. seeks a Regional Medical Scientific Director to act as a therapeutic and disease expert, facilitating bidirectional scientific information exchange with Scientific Leaders.

The role supports scientific exchange, research, congress activities, and investigator-sponsored studies across specified US territories. The position requires a PhD/PharmD/DNP/DO/MD and 3+ years of therapeutic-area experience, with travel up to 50%.

Qualifications

• PhD, PharmD, DNP, DO, or MD required.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant therapeutic area experience beyond terminal degree program.
• Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with key external stakeholders.
• Strong focus on scientific education, dialogue, and ethics; knowledge of FDA/OIG/HIPAA regulations.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and networking skills.
• Understanding of GMSA policies, SOPs, and GCP guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Develops professional relationships with national/regional SLs to provide company-approved medical and scientific information.
• conducts peer-to-peer scientific discussions and maintains medical contacts within the company.
• Directs SL inquiries on issues outside scope to appropriate resources.
• Maintains current knowledge of AOI and scientific environment to support trials and investigator-sponsored research.
• Initiates discussions with SLs and investigators to align with research strategies and study concepts.
• Leads protocol discussions in collaboration with GCTO and supports site initiation visits.
• Addresses questions from investigators about participation in Company-sponsored studies.
• Represents company at scientific congresses and medical meetings to exchange data.
