Job summary

Merck is seeking a Regional Medical Scientific Director to lead scientific exchange, research initiatives, and congress support across Rheumatology and Dermatology Immunology. You will liaison with national and regional SLs, provide company-approved medical information, and guide investigators in phase II–IV programs.

Remote position with a national footprint. The ideal candidate holds a PhD/MD/DO/DNP and has 3+ years of relevant therapeutic experience, with strong regulatory knowledge,

Qualifications

• Doctoral-level degree (PhD, PharmD, DNP, DO, or MD) required; relevant therapeutic area experience beyond field
• Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with external stakeholders
• Strong commitment to scientific excellence and dialogue
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and networking skills
• Knowledge of FDA, OIG, HIPAA and related regulations in pharma industry
• Ability to organize and work in a dynamic environment
• Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, OneNote

Responsibilities

• Develops professional relationships with national/regional SLs to provide company-approved medical information
• Conducts peer-to-peer scientific discussions and maintains medical contacts within the company
• Addresses inquiries outside Regional Medical Scientific Director scope to appropriate resources
• Maintains current knowledge of AOI and therapeutic area trends
• Initiates scientific/data exchange with potential investigators and aligns with research strategies
• Recommends study sites and investigators for phase II‑IV programs and conducts SIVs
• Leads protocol discussions in collaboration with GCTO
• Engages in scientific congresses and supports data exchange
• Gathers feedback to understand medical needs and priorities
• Leads by example to foster inclusive, diverse teams
