Job summary

Merck seeks a Regional Medical Scientific Director (MSL) in Respiratory/COPD to drive scientific exchange and research initiatives. You will engage with national and regional scientific leaders, support investigator-initiated studies, and align with GMSA policies.

This leadership role requires a PhD/MD-equivalent and 3+ years in COPD/Respiratory, with travel up to 50% and a remote-friendly setup. Strong communication and ethics knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven competence and a minimum of 3 years of relevant therapeutic area experience beyond that obtained in the terminal degree program, e.g., COPD/Respiratory.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and networking skills
• Principled verbal and written communications
• Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with key external stakeholders
• Dedication to scientific excellence with a strong focus on scientific education and dialogue
• Familiarity with FDA, OIG, HIPAA, and other ethical guidelines, laws, and regulations relevant to the pharmaceutical industry and its customers
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and work effectively in a constantly changing environment
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, OneNote)
• Familiarity with virtual meeting platforms

Responsibilities

• Scientific Exchange: develop relationships with national/regional SLs and provide company-approved scientific information
• Research: discuss AOI alignment, assist investigator-sponsored research, and support site/enrollment strategies
• Scientific Congress Support: engage in scientific meetings and exchange data
• Scientific Insights: gather feedback to inform medical needs and priorities
