Job summary

Merck is seeking a Regional Medical Scientific Director to lead scientific exchange, research collaborations, and congress support across the US territory. The role requires a credentialed medical/scientific background and extensive stakeholder engagement with national and regional leaders.

Travel could be up to 50% to support investigator-initiated studies and GCSA/GCTO interactions. The successful candidate will shape scientific strategy, ensure compliance with GMSA SOPs and GCP guidelines,

Qualifications

• Credentialed with PhD, PharmD, DNP, DO, or MD.
• Minimum 3 years relevant therapeutic area experience beyond terminal degree program.
• Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with external stakeholders.
• Strong focus on scientific education and dialogue.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and networking skills.
• Knowledge of FDA, OIG, HIPAA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Engage in bidirectional scientific exchange with national/regional SLs.
• Provide balanced, factual information on non-product areas of interest.
• Lead discussions with SLs on research strategies and AOI.
• Identify barriers to patient enrollment and retention in trials.
• Support scientific congress activities and data exchange.
• Gather feedback to understand scientific needs of SLs and patients.
