Bluebonnet Trails Community Services seeks a Consumer Benefits Specialist to assist clients with Medicaid eligibility and entitlements, and to support SSI/SSDI applications and appeals. You will coordinate renewals, provide referrals, and participate in trainings across BTCS programs.

The role requires a Human Services background, knowledge of Medicaid/Medicare, and SOAR certification or willingness to obtain it within six months. A Texas driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services field.
• If degree is not in Human Services, 24 credits in a human services field.
• Applicable experience may substitute for bachelor’s degree.
• Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security applications.
• Experience working with persons with disabilities in healthcare or rehab.
• Strong computer and communication skills.
• Ability to work as a team member to support the overall benefits needs of persons served.
• SOAR certification or willing to obtain within the first 6 months.
• Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and maintain approved status throughout employment.

Responsabilités

• Assist consumers with determining eligibility for Medicaid benefits and access to entitlements, and aid SSI/SSDI applications and appeals.
• Provide community referrals and representation during administrative hearings.
• Support benefit renewal and ongoing eligibility for Medicaid programs (QMB, MQMB, waivers).
• Present or staff trainings across programs and departments as needed.
• Serve regionally across Bastrop, Fayette, and Lee locations and coordinate with referral vendors.
