Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer | Regional Technical Leader to provide technical authority, leadership, and growth for the Power and Energy practice. You will mentor staff, oversee protection and control deliverables, and drive successful project delivery.

The role requires extensive experience in high‑voltage substations, protection schemes, SCADA integration, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 15 years of related experience in power, protection, and control engineering.
• Travel domestically and internationally may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, delivery, and technical execution of high‑voltage substation protection and control projects.
• Act as technical authority for protective relaying, control systems, SCADA integration, automation, and comms.
• Develop and approve protection engineering deliverables (schematics, wiring, relay settings, layouts).
• Lead power system studies and protection coordination analyses.
• Ensure compliance with client requirements and CDM Smith quality procedures.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for project delivery, commissioning, testing, and startup.
• Drive engineering standards development and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Mentor engineers and designers to support technical excellence and career growth.
• Support business development, proposals, and client relationships.
