Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer | Regional Technical Leader to guide technical and organizational leadership within our Power and Energy practice. You will lead complex projects, mentor staff, support growth, and oversee performance and resources.

The role emphasizes protection and control systems, with responsibility for technical authority, project delivery, and client service excellence across multiple regional offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 15 years of related experience.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, delivery, and technical execution of high-voltage substation protection and control projects.
• Serve as a technical authority for protective relaying, control systems, SCADA, automation, and substation communications.
• Develop, review, and approve protection and control engineering deliverables (schematics, wiring diagrams, relay settings, panel layouts).
• Lead power system studies, protection coordination, equipment selection, and related analyses.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery, commissioning, and startup.
• Drive technical excellence through reviews, standards development, and continuous improvement.
