Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Receive, sort, aliquot, label and deliver specimens to the correct technical department.
• Review transmittal documentation for accuracy.
• Operate automated specimen processing equipment and associated software.
• Maintain automation and perform basic troubleshooting.
• Use IT systems (RILIS and middleware) for electronic processing of specimens.
• Prepare specimen transport containers for delivery to facility laboratories.
• Package, label, and record specimens for forwarding to other laboratories.
• Answer telephones and relay accurate information.
• Provide customer service and resolve specimen or patient data issues per SOP.
• Archive, retrieve, track and destroy specimens per SOP using automated systems.
• Initiate reports and route to facilities.
• Maintain and troubleshoot printers.
• Train and orient new employees as necessary.
