Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Roseville, CA is seeking a Pathology Technician Assistant AA to support the pathology team under supervision of the Chief of Pathology. You will assist in receiving, preparing and handling surgical specimens and autopsies, log and track items, and help maintain a safe, organized lab environment.

Responsibilities include assisting gross examination, labeling and transporting specimens, handling reagents and waste per safety rules, and performing clerical duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Current pathology experience including assisting in receipt and processing surgical specimens.
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills necessary to work under time constraints.
• Ability to keep detailed records and maintain attendance.
• Strong customer focus and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer keyboard skills & word processing at ~20 wpm.

Responsibilities

• Receives, transports, verifies identification, logs, and prepares gross surgical and cytology specimens.
• Assists pathologist with gross examination and handling of specimens.
• Maintains wet tissue storage and disposes of tissues per protocol and safety rules.
• Assists with clerical duties including filing, mailing, and distribution of reports.
• Labels, stores, and disposes reagents and hazardous wastes per regulations.
• May train staff in non-grossing duties.
