The Regional Intake Nurse a behavioral health professional responsible for supporting admissions and patient access goals for multiple facilities within the designated region. This position provides clinical support across designated facilities within a region and may be required to report onsite to any of the designated facilities within the region within three hours of notification based on operational, clinical, contractual, or business needs. This role manages inbound referrals, completes phone-based assessments and intake screenings, and coordinates admissions in collaboration with on-site facility teams. This role supports the intake and facility teams by reviewing the medical documentation in alignment with the capability of the assigned facilities. This role is highly collaborative with the facilities` clinical/medical teams.

Essential Functions:

1. Promptly respond to inbound referrals via phone or fax.
2. Processes requests for admission from outside referral agencies and from within the community.
3. Reviews all medical documentation from referrals.
4. Collaborates with medical personnel at assigned facilities.
5. Completes nurse to nurse reports and communication.
6. Maintains understanding of admission and exclusionary criteria of each assigned facility.
7. Conducts phone assessments and Intake Screening and Assessment Part 1 thoroughly on all appropriate accepted patients.
8. Completes insurance benefit verification and authorizations.
9. Documents all calls and referrals into the EMR system.
10. Pre-admits patients in the hospital billing system.
11. Collaborates with other facility personnel to ensure appropriate recommendation of referrals.
12. Coordinates admission and transfer between other hospital systems.
13. Communicates projected admissions to designated facility staff.
14. Complies with organization policies and procedures.
15. Maintains ability to provide excellent customer service.
16. Completes other duties and projects as assigned.
