Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Physical Engineer | Regional Technical Leader to provide technical authority in HV substation design and to lead a growing Power and Energy team. You will drive design execution from 230kV to 345kV, mentor engineers, and manage staffing and project performance.

You will coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, support business development, and uphold CDM Smith quality, safety, and client service standards across multiple U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or Electrical Technology or related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 15 years of related experience.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, execution, and delivery of HV substation projects from 230kV to 345kV.
• Serve as Engineer of Record and technical authority for substation physical design (AIS/GIS, grounding, lightning protection).
• Review and approve engineering deliverables, studies, and calculations for compliance with standards and CDM Smith procedures.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support integrated delivery from planning through startup.
• Drive technical excellence through reviews, standards development, and continuous improvement.
