Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Physical Engineer | Regional Technical Leader to provide technical and organizational leadership within our Power and Energy practice. This role combines advanced engineering expertise in High Voltage (HV) substation design with responsibility for leading, developing, and growing a team of engineering professionals.

Proven leadership of engineering teams.
Expertise in HV substation design and power delivery.
Strong project management with budgets, schedules, and staffing.
Excellent client relationship management and business development.
Clear written and verbal communication and collaboration across disciplines.

Responsibilities

Lead design, execution, and delivery of HV substation projects 230kV–345kV.
Serve as Engineer of Record and technical authority for physical design, AIS/GIS, grounding, protection.
Review deliverables, ensure quality and compliance with industry standards.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for integrated delivery from planning to startup.
Drive standards development, quality programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
