Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to deliver high-quality, direct patient care in a team-based setting. You will support administrative and clinical operations, work with diverse patient populations, and report to the Practice Manager.

The role requires MA competencies, ability to take vitals, perform EKGs, immunizations, phlebotomy, and assist in procedures under supervision. Emphasis on population health coaching and PHI safeguards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Basic familiarity with computers; basic level in web-based apps.
• MA Certificate/CNA/EMT/Phlebotomy certificates preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop patient relationships and coordinate care to meet goals.
• Assist during visits: manage flow, inform on delays, review meds/allergies.
• Communicate with patient and team; hand-off to provider; accurate documentation.
• Perform MA duties under supervision: vitals, EKGs, point-of-care testing, phlebotomy, immunizations (certified MAs).
• Lead population health efforts: outreach, health coaching, data gathering.
• Monitor equipment/supplies; maintain sterile, clean areas; ensure PHI protection.
• Queue prescriptions in EHR; document tasks for billing; schedule diagnostics and labs.
• Verify insurance, prior authorizations, referrals, pre-certifications.
• Identify OSHA issues and ensure patient safety; report adverse events.
