Job summary

Guardian Glass is seeking a Regional Float Glass Process Engineer to join the Operational Excellence team. This role supports Guardian’s US and Mexico float facilities to improve operation of float lines and collaborate with regional/global leaders.

You will develop and deploy practices, optimize batch chemistry, and act as a technical SME to troubleshoot production issues across sites. Travel up to 50% is required.

Qualifications

• Float glass process knowledge and experience in full scale manufacturing and development using production scale equipment.
• Experience with project planning and execution (canal change, hot repairs, etc.).
• Ability to travel up to 50% (primarily Mon-Fri) in North and South America.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy proven practices for the Float.
• Improve quality, performance and throughput of furnaces.
• Support sites to overcome challenges by disciplined problem-solving.
• Work with plants on batch chemistry to optimize quality, cost, and transitions.
• Ensure knowledge is shared to build skills across teams.
• Serve as a Technical SME to Guardian's production float teams to troubleshoot issues.
• Seek opportunities to learn from the market and bring outside best practices to Guardian.
• Communicate ideas clearly across multiple levels and teams.
• Work on ramp ups after major projects and implement new technologies across plants.
