Responsibilities

  • Support field inventory strategy and optimization aligned with business needs.
  • Analyze utilization, turns, aging, excess inventory, and field performance.
  • Coordinate physical audits and inventory counts across domestic locations.
  • Coordinate with Finance, Operations, Quality, Regulatory, and Commercial teams for audits and reconciliations.

Regional Field Inventory Manager

Department: Customer Service

Description

Coordinates and supports regional field inventory activities to improve inventory accuracy, asset utilization, product availability, cash flow, and customer service. Works with Field Sales and corporate teams to execute consignment operations, audits, inventory optimization activities, product transitions, and field support within established processes and guidelines.


Key Responsibilities

Field Inventory Strategy & Optimization

  • Support field inventory plans and activities aligned with business, customer, and operational requirements.
  • Analyze utilization, turns, aging, excess inventory, and field performance to identify opportunities for improvement and support asset-recovery activities.
  • Provide recommendations on kit builds, deployment levels, and consignment needs; prepare metrics, risks, and action updates for review.

Auditing & Reconciliation

  • Coordinate and conduct physical audits and inventory counts across domestic field locations.
  • Support pre-audit planning with Finance, Operations, Quality, Regulatory, and Commercial teams.
  • Investigate discrepancies, complete inventory transactions and reconciliations, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Support agency transitions, acquisitions, and organizational changes through inventory validation and reconciliation.

Consignment & Field Support

  • Support surgeon, customer, sales representative, and sales agency inventory requirements.
  • Assist with escalated availability issues, retrievals, and emergency logistics supporting surgical procedures.
  • Coordinate timely stakeholder communication and resolution during critical inventory events.

Product Lifecycle & Process Improvement

  • Partner with Engineering, Product Marketing, Operations, and Sales on product launches, transitions, and obsolescence programs.
  • Participate in inventory-related projects and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen accuracy, efficiency, and customer experience.
  • Maintain and support standardized field inventory processes, controls, and best practices.

Business Partnership, Quality & Compliance

  • Build effective partnerships across Sales, Finance, Supply Chain, Quality, Regulatory, Operations, and Customer Service.
  • Provide guidance and training support on field inventory processes, controls, and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality systems, policies, procedures, and applicable regulations; support internal and external audits.
  • Balance customer needs with operational and financial objectives while promoting accountability and operational excellence.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, Finance, or a related field required.
  • In lieu of a degree, 4 years of medical device inventory management experience required.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in inventory management, inventory control, field operations, supply chain, or a related function.
  • Experience managing inventory across multiple field locations and consignment environments.
  • Experience with physical audits, reconciliations, discrepancy resolution, inventory optimization, and performance metrics.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional initiatives and process improvement projects.
  • ERP or inventory management system experience required.
  • Medical device experience strongly preferred; product lifecycle and escalation management experience preferred.

Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication with the ability to influence across functions.
  • Strong customer service orientation, attention to detail, and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Knowledge of inventory controls, supply chain operations, and distributed field inventory practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgment under pressure, and meet hospital credentialing requirements when applicable.

Travel

  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 30-50%, including customer, sales agency, and audit locations.
