Job summary

Gateway Services Inc. is seeking a Health & Safety Specialist for the Central region to work directly with operations, conduct workplace assessments and drive practical preventive actions.

This field-facing role emphasizes collaboration with Managing Directors, Regional Managers and Care Center teams to translate safety requirements into actionable practices. The role requires a strong safety foundation, four+ years of experience, and the ability to travel up to 50%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, Environmental Engineering or a related field.
• At least four years of relevant safety experience, ideally in manufacturing, distribution or another multi-site operational environment.
• Experience with workplace inspections, incident investigations and job-hazard analysis.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain safety requirements to operational leaders and frontline team members.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% and collaborate with Operations across Care Centers.

Responsibilities

• Conduct workplace assessments and inspections in the Central region.
• Support incident investigations and identify practical preventive actions.
• Partner with Operations, Fleet, HR and Gateway teams to address cross-functional safety issues.
• Translate safety requirements into practical actions for site teams.
• Provide timely field information and support following injuries and return-to-work processes.
• Help implement Gateway's safety policies, tools, campaigns and learning programs.
• Use data to identify recurring risks and recommend improvements.
