Job summary

Sonesta International Hotels in Chicago seeks an Area Events Manager to oversee catering and social events for three Royal Sonesta properties. You will liaise with clients and hotel operations to ensure profitable, flawless events, from pre-event planning through on-site execution and post-event follow-up.

You will lead the coordination of site inspections, BEOs, room blocks, and final billing, while mentoring teams to deliver exceptional service and repeat business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and minimum three years catering/convention leadership experience.
• Ability to analyze reports and develop strategies to improve outcomes.
• Ability to calculate figures such as discounts and percentages.
• Able to speak effectively to groups including customers and employees.
• Proficient in Delphi FDC (preferred).
• Must speak fluent English.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate pre-event planning and client meetings.
• Manage site inspections and Delphi file turnover.
• Prepare BEOs and banquet checks with client sign-off 10 days prior.
• Oversee on-site execution of client functions.
• Post-event billing and follow-up with clients.
• Coordinate administrative tasks and turnover management.
