Sonesta Hotels in Chicago seeks an Area Events Manager to service catering and social events across three Royal Sonesta hotels. You will liaise between clients and hotel operations, oversee on-site functions, and drive repeat business through superb execution.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree and at least three years in catering/conference services leadership, with strong communication and Delphi FDC proficiency. Normal hours include weekends/holidays with on-site presence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university and a minimum of three years of catering and/or convention services leadership experience.
• Ability to analyze reports and develop strategies to improve outcomes.
• Ability to speak effectively to groups including customers and employees.
• Proficient in Delphi FDC (preferred), including system setup, BEOs and Banquet Checks.
• Must speak fluent English and have excellent oral and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute pre-event planning activities including site inspections and program familiarization.
• Oversee on-site execution for client functions and maintain ownership of all program details.
• Coordinate post-event billing, final follow-up with clients, and ensure accurate banquet checks.
• Distribute BEOs and resumes; manage file turnovers and administrative reports.
• Supportive functions such as updating turnover worksheets and leading projects.
