Job summary

Sonesta International Hotels seeks an Area Events Manager to service catering and social events across three Chicago hotels. You will maintain client relationships, coordinate with hotel operations, and oversee events from pre-planning through post-event follow-up to maximize profitability.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of leadership in catering/convention services, with on-site presence for all client functions and strong collaboration with sales and culinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university.
• Minimum of three years of catering and/or convention services leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Pre-Event Planning: transitions booking from Sales Manager; site inspections when needed; update Delphi inventory; confirm details with client; set traces in Delphi.
• On-site execution: on-site for all client functions; manage program details from arrival to departure; ensure company standards.
• Post-Event: finalize banquet checks and billing; follow-up with client.
• Administrative: distribute BEOs and resumes; manage turnovers and files; prepare miscellaneous reports.
• Supportive functions: assist with movement of equipment and setup; conduct update meetings with Area Director; forecast turnover with revenue details.
