Job summary

INTREN, LLC is seeking a Fleet Operations Leader in the United States to optimize buying strategies (lease and owned) and rental planning across regional locations. You will maintain supplier relations, negotiate pricing, and supervise fleet inventory and logistics to ensure efficient operations.

You will drive preventative maintenance programs, monitor KPIs, and lead regional fleet staff while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Five years of Utility Fleet/Supply Chain experience.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of vehicle operations and maintenance trends.
  • Familiarity with DOT Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Proficient in Word and Excel.
  • Highly organized with multiple tasks and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Corporate Fleet team to optimize buying (lease and own) and rental strategy.
  • Maintain local supplier relationships and negotiate pricing agreements.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of inventory/fleet asset locations and logistics.
  • Dispose equipment with Corporate Fleet Team guidance.
  • Monitor KPI tools to benchmark planning and logistics performance.
  • Implement preventative maintenance processes and develop new procedures.
  • Lead regional fleet and maintenance personnel and provide coaching.
  • Ensure safety, environmental, regulatory, and organizational policy compliance.
  • Lead union and non-union employees and manage drivers and third‑party services.
  • Support Regional Director of Operations and handle other assigned tasks.

Job description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Work with Corporate Fleet team to optimize buying (lease and own) and rental strategy.
  • Maintain existing local supplier relationships and develop new local supplier relationships, which includes negotiating pricing agreements and outlining upfitting requirements.
  • Work directly with regional operations to oversee the day-to-day operations of all inventory/fleet asset locations and logistics.
  • Work with Corporate Fleet Team to dispose equipment.
  • Monitor analytical tools and KPI's to benchmark planning & logistics performance and to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Implement preventative maintenance processes designed by corporate team and participate in the development of new procedures to ensure performance of fleet inventory is efficient.
  • Manage the fleet services emergency response in support of storm and other emergency recovery efforts and delegate to regional fleet team as necessary.
  • Provide leadership and direct supervision of all regional fleet and maintenance personnel, which includes assessing talent and providing ongoing coaching and development and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, regulatory, and organizational policies, and procedures.
  • Lead, direct, and assign union and non-union employees in the completion of their responsibilities.
  • Manage equipment drivers, third-party transportation services, and equipment deliveries within supported regions.
  • Support Regional Director of Operations
  • Any other tasks assigned by supervisory personnel.
  • Inspect and approve all vehicles and vehicle-related equipment before placement in service.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Five years of Utility Fleet/Supply Chain related experience highly preferred.
  • Customer service background with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of current trends and technological developments pertaining to vehicle operations and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of applicable Department of Transportation Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Excellent computer skills in most Microsoft programs including Word and Excel.
  • Must be highly organized, able to handle multiple tasks, and meet varying deadlines.
