Job summary

The Southern Regional Emergency Operations Center-based Emergency Services Coordinators (ESCs) support regional operations for Cal OES. They serve as the first line of collaboration between local emergency managers and the state, guiding day-to-day ops, trainings, and readiness activities.

In emergencies, ESCs coordinate between Operational Areas and the Region/State Operations Center, applying SEMS and state regulations to protect lives and property.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of state disaster preparedness and response protocols.
• Experience with federal, state, and local emergency laws and policies.
• Familiarity with disaster planning, preparedness, and response best practices.
• Experience with vulnerable populations during emergencies.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in disaster work.
