Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a Regional Emergency Coordinator for Region 3 (Calhoun, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lexington, Newberry, Richland, Saluda) to support local emergency managers and first responders. The role emphasizes development and sustainment of comprehensive emergency management programs using NIMS and ICS concepts.

The position involves training, exercises, and technical assistance to counties, with responsibilities to establish relationships and relay information to the State

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and two years emergency management experience at the local, state, or federal levels.
General knowledge of emergency management functions with emphasis on local and state levels.
Strong communication skills, both written and oral; working knowledge of NIMS with emphasis on the Incident Command System.

Responsibilities

Assist and participate in development, execution, and evaluation of REP training and exercises at state and county levels.
Provide technical assistance to county EM personnel with plan enhancement, training, exercise development, evaluation, and after-action reviews.
Establish and maintain professional relationships with local organizations and relay pertinent information to Region 3 Emergency Manager and Operations Response Manager.
