Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced Estimator/Lead to manage estimating functions across regions, coordinating with project managers, procurement, and design teams to ensure accurate, timely cost proposals. The role involves supervising staff, maintaining cost databases, and delivering competitive bids for a variety of project types.

The position requires extensive travel (20–40%) and a track record in cost estimation, with proficiency in estimating software and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent. 10 years of related experience with at least 3 of those years in a supervisory or management capacity.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Manages and administers the estimating functions in assigned region, area or group to include operating budgets, staffing assignments, and work assignments.
• Implements established estimating policies in assigned region, area or group to meet overall corporate objectives.
• Works with project managers to provide administrative and technical assistance in negotiating purchase orders, subcontracts, and change orders during procurement.
• Supervises the preparation of market cost studies, materials and methods, and recommends appropriate changes to database.
• Assists region leadership by reviewing project details and provides recommendations, and collaboratively determines strategies, techniques, and resources needed.
• Provides close coordination and oversight with design discipline leads for cost effectiveness and constructability for proposals.
