Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced Estimator in the United States to lead estimating functions in the assigned region. You will work with project managers, prepare market cost studies, and supervise subcontractor pricing to support proposals.

The role requires a high school diploma, 10 years of related experience with at least 3 in supervision, and willingness to travel 20–40%. You will maintain cost databases, apply standard estimating policies, and contribute to cost effective project

Responsibilities

• Manages and administers the estimating functions in assigned region, area or group to include operating budgets, staffing assignments, and work assignments.
• Implements established estimating policies in in assigned region, area or group to meet overall corporate objectives.
• Works with project managers to provide administrative and technical assistance in negotiating purchase orders, subcontracts, and change orders during procurement.
• Supervises the preparation of market cost studies, materials and methods, and recommends appropriate changes to database.
• Assists region leadership by reviewing project details and provides recommendations, and collaboratively determines strategies, techniques, and resources needed.
• Provides close coordination and oversight with design discipline leads for cost effectiveness and constructability for proposals.
• Ensures standardized use of approved estimating systems, maintenance and enhances of the cost database estimating system.
• Maintains all historical data for estimating man‑hours for various types of estimates (i.e. hard bid, design/build, construction management at risk, opinions of probable construction cost, etc.) and bid results by project.
• Reviews all final estimate and proposal packages to ensure accuracy and completeness for formal quotation and presentation.
• Contacts subcontractors and suppliers for outsource pricing.
• Performs additional duties as required.
