Job summary

CDM Smith in the United States is seeking an experienced Estimator/Cost Manager to lead estimating across a regional area. You will supervise the preparation of market cost studies, negotiate with subcontractors, and coordinate with project managers, design teams and procurement to ensure accurate, competitive proposals.

The role requires strong knowledge of estimating methods, cost control, and the ability to leverage historical data.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 10 years of related experience with at least 3 in supervisory or management capacity.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Manages and administers the estimating functions in assigned region, area or group to include operating budgets, staffing assignments, and work assignments.
• Implements established estimating policies to meet corporate objectives.
• Works with project managers to provide administrative and technical assistance in negotiating purchase orders, subcontracts, and change orders during procurement.
• Supervises the preparation of market cost studies, materials and methods, and recommends appropriate changes to database.
• Assists region leadership by reviewing project details and providing recommendations and strategies.
• Provides coordination with design discipline leads for cost effectiveness and constructability for proposals.
• Ensures standardized use of approved estimating systems and maintenance of the cost database.
• Maintains historical data for estimating man-hours and bid results by project.
• Reviews final estimate and proposal packages for accuracy and completeness.
