Job summary

TEC Group, Inc. is seeking a Regional Electrical Engineering Department Manager for Life Sciences projects in the Northeast. You will lead a team of about 20 electrical engineers and designers, shaping technical direction and project delivery from feasibility through construction.

Qualifications

Regional Electrical Engineering Department Manager

Lead a team of 20 electrical engineers and designers supporting complex life sciences projects throughout the Northeast. What You'll Do
Lead & Develop Teams
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a regional electrical engineering department of approximately 20 engineers and designers.
  • Drive employee development, coaching, performance management, and career growth.
  • Manage staffing, workload balancing, and resource planning across multiple projects.
  • Lead department meetings and help shape regional engineering strategy.
Partner with Clients
  • Build trusted relationships with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and life sciences clients.
  • Participate in feasibility studies, conceptual design, and project planning.
  • Prepare project proposals, staffing plans, technical reports, and cost estimates.
  • Support projects from concept through construction.
Provide Technical Leadership
  • Oversee the design and review of complex building electrical systems, including:
  • Medium- and low-voltage power distribution
  • UPS and emergency power systems
  • Generator systems
  • Grounding systems
  • Heat tracing systems
  • Ensure compliance with NEC (NFPA 70) and applicable building codes.
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Drive Regional Success
  • Partner with senior leadership on workforce planning and departmental strategy.
  • Coordinate engineering resources across the Northeast region.
  • Identify staffing needs, technical risks, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
  • 15+ years of electrical engineering and building systems design experience
Strong knowledge of:
  • Medium- and low-voltage power systems
  • UPS and emergency power systems
  • Generator systems
  • Grounding systems
  • Heat tracing
  • Extensive knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and applicable building codes
  • Experience leading engineering teams, mentoring staff, and managing performance
  • Experience with multidisciplinary engineering projects
  • Strong client-facing consulting experience
  • Experience developing staffing plans and engineering resource estimates
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences facilities
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
