Job summary

Amazon Web Services is seeking a Regional Chief Engineer to join the Data Center Engineering Operations team in Avondale, AZ. You will oversee the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to ensure 99.999% availability and lead medium-to-large projects from concept to completion.

You will work with EOTs, CEs, FM teams and vendors, drive preventative maintenance, perform root cause analysis, and implement standard practices. Strong communication and leadership are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of facilities management experience.
• 3+ years of program requirements definition and data and metrics leveraging to drive improvements experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or 10+ years of relevant work in a data center or other critical environment experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in a data center, to include HVSS
• Operate independently with limited direct management
• Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues within the region
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
• Create and deploy new standard practices for EOTs, CEs, and vendor support teams
• Provide training and guidance to EOTs, CEs, and FMs
• Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to by vendor and Amazon staff
• Communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience
• Work cross-functionally across teams to effect cluster-wide performance improvement with our internal and external partners by designing and implementing processes, metrics, and programs that enhance the end to end employee experience
• Collaborate effectively across teams to define strategy, goals, and obtain commitment to timelines and deliverables
