Job summary

Casella Waste Systems, Inc. is seeking a Market Area Controller to develop budgets for regional leadership and oversee accounting operations across a few cost centers under multiple divisions.

This role requires close collaboration with the Assistant Controller to ensure accurate, compliant financial reporting and effective control environments. The successful candidate will lead monthly closes, ensure GAAP and SOX compliance, and drive cost control through regional budgets and inventories.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field.
• 8–10 years of responsible leadership experiences in management or a supervisory position.
• Willingness to travel quarterly and be legally eligible to work in the US.
• Experience with budgeting, cash management, and audits.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure reports are entered and completed on time.
• Identify and correct inconsistencies in reporting within specific accounts or mapping of database activity.
• Ensure GAAP-compliant financial statements and SOX compliance.
• Oversee preparation of financial statements and filings to GAAP guidelines.
• Measure cost control through annual operating budgets for manufacturing needs.
• Develop and manage control systems for integrity and regional inventories.
• Communicate with accounting and other departments to plan and meet financial and operational goals.
• Conduct ad hoc analyses to facilitate decision making.
• Assist budgeting and cash management and oversee audits of policies.
• Provide leadership to team members with clear goals and development opportunities.
• Participate in training and other learning opportunities to support company goals.
• Ensure compliance with applicable policies and safety regulations.
