Job summary

Amazon is hiring a Community Engagement Manager to lead community first initiatives across Texas, with base in Houston or Austin. The role supports AWS Infrastructure and focuses on building constructive relationships with local communities and partners.

You will design, execute and scale community programs, manage external communications, and assess impact to protect and enhance brand reputation while aligning with business goals.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional or military experience.
• Experience structuring and negotiating complex agreements and leading cross-functional groups to orchestrate and successfully complete deals.
• Experience with sales CRM tools such as Salesforce or similar software.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy development and execute community engagement plans for major development projects across the region.
• Design and execute signature events and programs.
• Set the vision for sustainable community engagement initiatives across the region and manage these with attention to detail and a high bar for quality.
• Own internal and external communications for community engagement programs. Represent AWS Infrastructure publicly with internal and external stakeholders. Leverage multiple communications channels to drive employee awareness and involvement in community engagement initiatives.
• Act as the point of contact for community-centric issues and concerns. Proactively identify and address internal and external issues that pose reputational risk to AWS and business objectives.
• Lead community assessments for new sites in the region. Identify potential community-related risks and develop proactive engagement plans to mitigate them. Think strategically to scale InCommunities programming as the AWS business grows.
• Capture and report data that demonstrates community engagement's quantified and qualified impact on AWS Infrastructure, its employees, and the community. Communicate these results internally and externally.
• Partner with cross-functional teams — engineering, operations, real estate, energy, water, sustainability, construction, legal, public policy, and public relations to deliver results.
• Be physically present in the community. Roll up sleeves and get work done on the ground when required.
