Job summary

Zipline is seeking a Director of Maintenance Operations for the East Region to own end-to-end maintenance performance across regional operations. This senior role leads fleet readiness, maintenance systems, staffing, and compliance across multiple hubs and launch sites.

You will build and enforce a scalable maintenance operating model, set standards, and defend reliability, safety, and capacity with audit-ready processes. This role sits at Zipline's next phase of US operations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years leading maintenance or technical operations in aerospace, aviation, robotics, or other high-reliability hardware environments.
• Experience owning outcomes across multiple sites or regions, not just a single operation.
• Strong systems thinker who can balance standardization with local execution realities.
• Demonstrated ability to build leaders, not just teams, and hold them accountable to measurable results.
• Comfortable operating in high-tempo, ambiguous environments where judgment matters more than process purity.

Responsibilities

• Own Regional Maintenance Performance across the region, including fleet uptime, asset allocations, and maintenance systems.
• Lead and develop site-level leaders, setting expectations and driving accountability.
• Design and enforce regional maintenance systems, including preventive & corrective programs, tooling standards, and documentation.
• Drive reliability at scale by prioritizing fixes and managing resources across sites.
• Ensure safety and regulatory excellence with audit-ready processes and traceability.
• Partner cross-functionally with Flight Ops, Engineering, Supply Chain and Business Ops to resolve issues.
• Support launches and expansion with staffing models, tooling, spares, and early-life reliability.
