Job summary

Zipline is seeking a Director of Maintenance Operations for the East Region to own end-to-end maintenance performance across regional hubs and launch sites. You will set standards, scale an operating model, and ensure uptime, compliance, and capacity across multiple regulatory contexts.

You will lead site Heads of Maintenance and collaborate with Flight Ops, Engineering, and Supply Chain to prioritize fixes, manage resources, and drive continuous improvement while supporting new site launches

Qualifications

• 10+ years leading maintenance or technical operations in high-reliability environments.
• Experience owning outcomes across multiple sites or regions, not just one operation.
• Strong systems thinker balancing standardization with local execution realities.
• Proven ability to build leaders and hold them to measurable results.
• Comfortable operating in high-tempo, ambiguous environments where judgment matters.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
• Willingness to travel frequently across the region with hands-on presence at critical moments.

Responsibilities

• Own Regional Maintenance Performance across the region, including fleet uptime, capacity, parts availability, and incident recovery.
• Lead, develop, and coach site Heads of Maintenance and equivalent leaders; drive accountability and talent upgrades.
• Design and enforce regional maintenance systems: preventive/corrective programs, tooling standards, documentation, training, scheduling, and escalation.
• Drive reliability at scale with data-driven prioritization and fleet upgrade plans.
• Ensure safety and regulatory excellence with audit-ready compliance and traceability across states.
• Partner cross-functionally with Flight Ops, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Business Ops to resolve systemic issues.
• Support launches and expansions with staffing models, tooling, spares strategy, and early-life reliability.
