Job summary

HDR in the United States seeks a seasoned attorney to join the Legal Department as a senior contracts and advisory counsel. You will provide comprehensive legal services for professional and consulting engagements spanning engineering, architecture, program and construction management, and environmental consulting.

Responsibilities include reviewing and negotiating contracts, advising senior leadership on risk, and helping implement compliant, efficient processes across HDR’s global operations.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from ABA-accredited law school.
• A minimum of 3 years progressive experience practicing law.
• Active license to practice law.
• Law firm experience relevant to transactional or litigation work.
• Aptitude to identify and manage risk.
• Collaborative, pragmatic, and effective communication across the organization.
• Strong teamwork and ability to lead through trusted advising.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and manage competing demands.

Responsibilities

• Review, prepare, and negotiate contracts including professional/design services contracts and subcontracts.
• Provide comprehensive legal services across engineering, architecture, and construction management.
• Summarize and explain legal terms and risks for senior leadership.
• Monitor legal and contracting trends in the architecture, engineering and construction industry.
• Collaborate with internal and external counsel and cross-departmentally to deliver strategic legal support.
• Coordinate outside counsel when needed and assist in policy and process improvements.
