Job summary

City of Keller, Texas, is seeking an Animal Control Supervisor to oversee the Keller Regional Animal Services division. You will manage staff, enforce animal control laws, and handle impoundment, shelter operations, and outreach with partner cities.

Key duties include supervising officers, coordinating shelter meetings, and ensuring compliance with CALEA/TPCAF standards while maintaining safety and public service excellence.

Qualifications

• Must meet Keller Regional Animal Control Officer requirements.
• Three years of experience as a Keller Regional Animal Control Officer or similar.
• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Valid Texas Driver's License with clean record.
• No DWI or DUI convictions.
• Experience with care of domestic animals.
• Knowledge of local/state ordinances related to animal control.
• Ability to maintain accurate routine records.
• Ability to operate animal control equipment including firearms.
• Physical ability to capture animals.
• Advanced Animal Control Certification through Texas Department of Health.

Responsibilities

• Supervise animal control officers on shift.
• Approve time-off requests ensuring adequate regional coverage.
• Ensure daily deposits are prepared and submitted.
• Schedule Keller Animal Shelter Advisory meetings.
• Guide enforcement of Texas animal control regulations and city ordinances.
• Perform tasks related to animal control regulations and city ordinances.
• Complete CALEA and TPCAF accreditation-related reports and inspections.
• Respond to calls, patrol partnered cities, capture and impound animals.
• Collaborate with state/local agencies on rabies control.
• Explain animal control laws to the public.
• Maintain and service animal control units and equipment.
• Arrange transfers to Humane Society for adoptions.
• Serve as liaison with Humane Society of North Texas.
• Clean animal runs/cages and feed impounded animals.
• Euthanize sick/injured animals as needed.
• Release claimed animals.
