Job description

If so, Roosevelt University is seeking a Regional Admission Counselor who will strengthen our partnerships throughout the Midwest, with a focus on recruitment in Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. Roosevelt University has a social justice foundation, and our admissions team strives towards equity and creating access for students of all backgrounds.
This position reports to the Director of First-Year Admission. This is a remote position with an expectation of consistent regional travel for recruitment, and there is an expectation that the Counselor will attend events and meetings at our Chicago campus a few times per year. The ideal candidate would reside in, or close to, the state of Indiana.

The Regional Admission Counselor’s primary responsibility is to guide prospective students and families through the application process, which includes meeting with prospective first-year and transfer students, families, and school partners to assess academic eligibility, discuss academic offerings, and inform individuals of the Roosevelt student experience. The Counselor will manage an assigned territory of partner schools, serving as the primary point of contact for assigned school partners. The Counselor will travel and attend in-person or virtual events to recruit prospective students and will review applications for admission. Counselors also serve as an initial point of contact for post-admission processes to supplement other offices like Financial Aid Services, Academic Advising, or other student support services to ensure successful matriculation of transfer students.

The salary range for this position is $50,000-$52,000

Preferred Qualifications

  • Software systems: CRM (Slate), Student Information System (Banner), video conferencing (Zoom) and remote communication tool (Microsoft Teams)
Working Conditions

Remote, with regional travel. The Counselor will work from home, and will travel to their assigned partner institutions regularly.

Recruitment and Territory Management
  • Understands and promotes the programs and services offered that contribute to the value and mission of Roosevelt University.
  • Works with Director of First-Year Admission to develop out-of-state markets for Roosevelt University, especially in Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Ohio.
  • Identifies, recruits, and admits prospective students in a designated market.
  • Manages a recruitment territory from point of inquiry to matriculation.
  • Executes and evaluates recruitment strategies.
  • Conducts outreach by email, phone, or virtually with students, parents and school partners.
  • Participates and/or assists with campus recruitment events and visit opportunities including weekend and evening hours.
Relationship Building
  • Advises prospective applicants on the admissions process and opportunities at the University.
  • Provides one-on-one and group admissions counseling to diverse populations – admission counseling occurs primarily by in-person or virtual appointments, phone calls, and email.
  • Communicates requirements, expectations, opportunities and success stories with school partners to help support and identify potential students.
Application Management
  • Manages the applicant pool for all undergraduate programs in the assigned territory.
  • Uses CRM (Slate), personal outreach, and other tools to facilitate application completion.
  • Thoroughly reviews student credentials in making admission decisions using University guidelines and awarding merit scholarship opportunities. Uses the application and transcripts to evaluate students’ ability to succeed.
Student Guidance
  • Guides students through the enrollment process, from inquiry or application through matriculation.
  • Provides guidance and pre-advising to prospective students to determine admissibility, appropriate program, location, and resources.
  • Informs students of the various offerings and opportunities available while considering students’ abilities and needs to be successful. In some cases, one may need to suggest other opportunities aside from selecting Roosevelt University if the decision is not beneficial to the student. This could include suggesting attendance at a community college or additional coursework at a previous 4-year institution.
  • Assists students with accessing and understanding general post-admission information and processes like financial aid, residence life, advising and student support services.
Travel
  • Plans and arranges all phases of local and regional travel.
  • Travels to local or regional high schools, community colleges, or other sites for recruitment events.
  • Participates in off-campus events, visit opportunities or meetings to engage with prospective students, families and other partners.
  • Collects and enters prospective student contact information for the CRM system.
