Job summary

HDR, an employee-owned firm, seeks an Accounting Manager to oversee accounting for multiple offices and two Business Groups, lead project accounting, establish internal controls, and partner with Area Accounting, Operations, and Group leaders to manage budgets.

You will guide monthly reviews, support audits, review financial statements and revenue recognition, mentor accounting staff, participate in staffing decisions, and ensure timely invoicing and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience; an advanced degree may offset years of experience.
• Proficiency with MS Office including Word and Outlook.
• Excellent verbal and written communication including grammar, punctuation, proofreading, spelling and telephone skills.
• Flexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated, well-organized and detail-oriented.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Commitment to employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting functions for multiple offices and two business groups.
• Establish internal controls for procedures and ensure compliance with policies.
• Coordinate with Area Accounting, Operations, and Business Group Leaders on budgets.
• Audit compliance, invoicing, reporting formats, cost accounting and financial quality control.
• Advise management on financial performance, trends and KPI’s.
• Mentor Project Accountants, GL Accountants and Accounting Leads.
• Participate in hiring/training decisions and monthly business reviews.
• Support project managers with budgets, AP/AR, and reporting; ensure timely contracts and amendments.
• Ensure timesheets align with policies and corporate reporting metrics.
• Prepare for internal and external audits and review financial forecasts.
