THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Regional Account Manager (RAM) will oversee and manage key regional accounts (Grocery, Club, Mass, Speciality, etc), supporting all sales cycle aspects, including account management, broker and distributor relationships, in partnership with the Regional Field Sales Manager and Team. Proactive customer, broker, and distributor management is essential.

The ideal candidate is driven, always seeking new opportunities to grow revenue and retailer relationships, and is solution-oriented, aiming for mutually beneficial outcomes.

You will work with a motivated team focused on achieving big goals together.

This is an individual contributor role reporting to a Senior Director, Sales - National Accounts. The role is remote, but living near a major airport is required due to travel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build & manage relationships with national & regional accounts including grocery, mass, natural, club, and specialty chains.
  • Develop and execute account strategies to expand distribution, promotional activities, and achieve brand, volume, and KPI objectives.
  • Manage trade spend to meet goals with customers and brokers.
  • Manage broker relations, communication, and follow-up.
  • Create analyses and presentations to increase feature and display activity, expand distribution, and grow market share.
  • Implement customer development strategies as directed by senior management.
  • Maintain communication regarding account progress, pricing, promotions, resets, and setbacks with relevant teams.
  • Collaborate with the field sales team to develop and communicate execution standards and expectations.
  • Use category management expertise to maximize distribution, shelf presence, and display impact.
  • Monitor and analyze distributor and market data, preparing reports for senior management.
  • Stay informed on competitive activities in the territory.
  • Spend approximately 80% of time selling and managing customer relationships, and 20% in retail accounts with the team, brokers, and distributors, sharing best practices and opportunities.
  • Travel as needed via car, train, subway, taxi, and air.

Requirements

Skills/Experience, Competencies:

  • Four-year college degree or relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of proven sales experience managing key retail accounts (Grocery, Natural, Mass, Club, etc).
  • Self-starter with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in retail channels: Grocery, Club, Mass, Natural/Specialty.
  • Experience with both large and small brands.
  • Trade management skills.
  • Strong computer skills: PPT, Excel, Google Docs, etc.
  • Experience with multiple RTM models: DSD, Broadliners, Direct, etc.
  • Retail promotional planning experience.
  • Excellent presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Sense of urgency and positive attitude.
